Wednesday 4.th of May Fantastic Norway is addressing the entire collection of Norways mayors and chief executives, at the Municipality Days at Oslo Plaza. Fantastic Norway will question and discuss the importance of architecture as a tool for strengthening both local democracy and identity.

The main theme of this years Municipality Day is as follows (From KS homepage):

“Who should manage the municipality – elected politicians or government professional bureaucrats?
This year, the Norwegian people choose 11 500 politicians. How much authority do they have?
Do Parliament and the Government in general provided state bureaucracies with too much power?

The Municipality Week 2011, we take the debate about the role of local democracy in an era of an increasingly stronger central government bureaucracy. What kinds of municipalities, Norway needs in the future? What do Sweden, to involve the citizens better, And what is the UK’s Society Big project?
